
Portraits
“Personalities” rather than portraits is the correct term to describe Anton Molnar’s figures. He always focuses on depicting strong identities, individuals with particular “power”. Through his eye, a Transylvanian farmer becomes an Emperor, a metallurgy worker seems like an actress, the Doyen of a small village is a philosopher. On his canvas their impassive yet watchful gaze gets magnified. His landmark abstract frame contributes to strengthening this feeling.
